Since June 30, passengers can cross lake Baikal by regular ferry boats. The new fastest way to get from Listvyanka in Irkutsk region to Tankhoi in Buryatia is to cross the lake by a regular ferry.
A passenger ferry boat from Tankhoi to Listvyanka and Irkutsk will begin commute only on Saturdays on June 30 and will continue until August 25, 2018 (except July 14). The ticket's price -is 1500 rubles per person, including children under 10 years old. Children under 5 without occupying a separate seat can travel free of charge. The ferry boat covers the distance of 42 km in one hour.
Another significant news is the opening of the first regular passenger ferry boat route from Turka (Eastern Baikal) to Olkhon Island (Zagli Bay) since July 4, 2018. The ticket costs 3500 rubles, which is much cheaper than the regular excursion Turka- Olkhon.
The governments of Irkutsk Oblast' and Buryatia republic together with business structures will implement a comprehensive action plan for the development of passenger water transportation and tourism in Lake Baikal waters. In addition to the construction of piers and special ships, they are planning to further develop a network of new water routes that will connect Buryatia and Irkutsk oblast, such as Olkhon - Ust-Barguzin, Irkutsk to Turka and others.
